Spring Cleaning Your Smartphone

Spring cleaning your smartphone

Spring has just about made its return. With this new season comes warmer air and usually one long spring cleaning list. Fortunately, we're not really here to tell you how to clean your house, but you can click here if you are looking for a great, comprehensive spring cleaning checklist.

This spring cleaning blog post is about your smartphone. Just like we go through each room in our house and purge all the items we no longer need or want, we should do the same with our phones. Let's begin!

1) Apps

You might be one of those rare individuals who regularly deletes the apps you no longer use, but most people hang onto apps for months. The first step in spring cleaning your phone is deleting apps you don't need or use. This will free up space for things that are actually useful.

After you've done that, it's time to organize them into folders for easy access. We recommend keeping your home screen to two pages of apps, so you're not always scrolling left or right to find what you need. The types of folders you create are up to you. Here are a couple examples:

2) Storage

Your next step is identifying which content is taking up the most storage. If you have an iPhone, that process looks like this:

Next, you'll see this screen below. You can tell at a glance which content is taking up the most space. Gelow that there are some quick recommendations on how to help reduce the amount of storage they're taking up. Right below that, you'll see a list of apps organized by how much space they're occupying. Obviously, you won't want to delete everything, but this is a good place to start.

3) Germs & Bacteria

You didn't think this was just about what's inside your phone, did you? To rid your screen of fingerprints and smudges, we recommend the PhoneSoap Shine. For freeloading, illness-causing bacteria and viruses, we suggest the PhoneSoap 3 UV-C sanitizer. It kills 99.99% of germs* on your phone and anything else that fits inside.
